My Story
Next month I will be celebrating my ten-year "Cancerversary," with heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional medical care and emotional support I received after my diagnosis of stage 3 breast cancer in September 2010. I am especially grateful to be a member of the Pink Phoenix dragon boat team for BC survivors, which has had a huge impact on my physical and emotional recovery over the last eight years. My team has inspired me to continue to reach out to other survivors, and to give back to the organizations that continue to support our mission of "empowering breast cancer survivors through the sport of dragon boating."
Pink Phoenix recently accepted a team challenge to raise at least $25,000 for the 2020 Komen Oregon and SW Washington MORE THAN PINK Walk in the fight against breast cancer. We can't paddle together this year, but we can walk on August 23rd in small groups throughout the city as part of our virtual fundraiser. I will be walking in support of those who are struggling through treatments during this pandemic, and in memory of dear friends I've lost. Whether it’s emotional support via Komen’s helpline, financial support through Komen’s treatment assistance program, or help navigating their care journey, and more, Komen will be there with our help.
