This race is personal as I have been thanking God for 6 1/2 years that I am now breast cancer free. Too many of us have experienced breast cancer firsthand or through someone close to us as I now have two cousins who have died as a result of their breast cancer treatment and I wonder if there had been a preventative measure or less invasive "cure" that they both might still be alive! We all need to support family members, friends and colleagues on their journey battling this terrible invasion of their body. Race for the Cure is more than just another run or walk as it is a renewed commitment to do all we can to end this disease, a celebration of survivorship and a time to honor those we have lost along the way.
Your fundraising dollars drive the work of the Komen Foundation across Oregon & SW Washington as our region continues to have the highest incidences of breast cancer in the country with 63 women diagnosed each and every week in Oregon of which 11 will die; our region no longer is in step with the national average of one in eight women being diagnosed with breast cancer we are now one in seven; not great to be at the top of that scale!! This is apart from the statistics of men currently being diagnosed with the same disease.
Please support my participation in the 2017 Eugene for the Cure with a tax deductable donation, and join us in the global movement to end breast cancer forever. There is only one way we can accomplish this: Together.
