RECENT EVENTS

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

Nov16 - MTP-01.png

October was an incredible, full month of stories from every corner of Oregon and SW Washington! We invited people to share their personal journey and why they are involved with us. Their stories were inspiring and heart breaking; hopeful and real; thought provoking and honest. These people received our services and / or gave back to us and community - volunteer support, donations and pure commeraderie.  Thank you, Komen family!

WORSHIP IN PINK

Nov16 - WIP-01.png

During the month of October, over 30 churches in the Portland-metro area got together to spread the word about breast health awareness and the importance of screening in early detection. Volunteer Ambassadors were trained in the message by Komen and then planned activities within their congregations. Seven of these churches are participating as African American Initiative Pilot Churches, where the Ambassadors have the added task of assisting those who request assistance in getting a mammogram. Photos from the activities can be found on the Worship in Pink FaceBook page.

KICK FOR KOMEN

Nov16 - Kfk-01.png

On October 1, the Komen Ambassador Board hosted their inaugural Kick for Komen Foot Golf Tournament at Glendoveer Golf Club. This lively and fun event raised more than $11,000 to fund important services in Oregon and SW Washington. Thank you to all of the participants, sponsors, and Ambassador Board members for making this event a success!

BREAST CANCER FORUM

Nov16 - BCF-01.png

On October 22nd, Komen hosted a Breast Cancer Forum in Eugene, where keynote speaker, Rebecca Nellis, of Cancer and Careers, talked about how to navigate the workplace after a cancer diagnosis. Following her presentation, a panel of local HR and health professionals talked, more in depth, about local resources, regulations, and experiences in this area. Check out photos here.
